Join Grand Central Art Center and The Frida Cinema for a special collaborative evening connecting art, community, memory, and the pursuit of justice through The Stolen Dove, an ongoing project by artist Jon Rubin, and the Santa Ana premiere of the award-winning documentary Who Killed Alex Odeh?

The evening begins at Grand Central Art Center with a free public hosting of The Stolen Dove from 7:00–8:00 PM, including light desserts provided through the generous in-kind support of Knafeh Queens and an opportunity to gather, share stories, and reflect on the life and legacy of Alex Odeh, a Palestinian American poet, teacher, CSUF alumni, and civil-rights leader assassinated in Santa Ana in 1985.

Developed through Grand Central Art Center’s Artist-in-Residence program, The Stolen Dove reactivates Odeh’s story through the journey of a dove originally stolen from the monument honoring him outside the Santa Ana Public Library—the only public monument of an Arab American in the United States. Traveling coast to coast through a growing network of homes and institutions, the dove invites communities to carry his story forward and reflect on collective memory, the pursuit of justice, and the ongoing search for answers.

Following the gathering, we will walk together to The Frida Cinema with those attending the film screening for the 8:30 PM Santa Ana premiere of Who Killed Alex Odeh? Directed by Jason Osder and William Lafi Youmans, this powerful documentary revisits Odeh’s 1985 assassination and follows renewed efforts to uncover the truth behind a case that remains unsolved. The film received the Special Jury Award for Journalistic Excellence at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

This collaborative evening holds particular significance in Santa Ana, where Alex Odeh’s life was taken. Together, Grand Central Art Center and The Frida Cinema invite our community to come together around his story, the ongoing pursuit of justice, and the importance of keeping his legacy alive.
