Dennis Hare & Pat Sparkuhl: No Assembly Required
SpaceOnSpurgeon, An Urbane Gallery of Art
April 5 - June 7, 2008
Unexpected Details...Sculptural Painting...All Parts Merging into One Image...Works with a Soul...Dennis Hare mixes the real with the abstract. Dennis Hare's canvases extend themselves beyond the surface. Paint, tar emulsions and lacquers are applied to weathered junkyard materials. Dennis builds upon these "flat" canvases to create a work of strength, enticing the viewer to touch, feel, relate to each specific piece and part thereof. See how colorful figures invite you to join their Sunday Afternoon. Hare brings to life his art with an intensity, activating mind and soul, unifying paint and "found objects"!
210 N. Spurgeon Street, Santa Ana 92701
Artist Receptions: Opening Saturday April 5th from 6-9
Closing Saturday, June 7th from 6-9 www.spaceonspurgeon.com

Cheryl Cotman
SpaceOnSpurgeon, An Urbane Gallery of Art
April 5 - June 7, 2008
Cheryl Cotman's work deals with science, and the hidden side of nature it reveals. An unusual method is involved. She becomes immersed in the concepts and methods of her topics, sometimes going so far as to engage in basic research, in search of an artistic direction or interpretation. The results often have a singular esthetic quality, combining a sense of the naggingly familiar (reflections of nature) and the strange (images of type never before seen). Her art has the potential of allowing the viewer to experience the presence of science in worlds outside its normal boundaries. www.spaceonspurgeon.com

March 29 - April 12, 2008
Opening Reception Saturday, March 15th from 7-9 pm at Santa Monica Art Studios:

Winkler's paintings have a sense of stillness and have been described as dreamlike. Her art keeps evolving and becomes more complex with every new experience. The result is a body of work that skillfully blends nature and abstraction, sometimes in energized images and at other times in tranquil and contemplative evocations.
Winkler was born in Eastern Europe and immigrated to Chicago, Illinois in the 1950's. She moved to Los Angeles, Ca. in the 1980's and has been painting for the last 25 years. While exhibiting at Art Expo Los Angeles in 1997, she was awarded "Best Emerging Artist". Additional works can be seen at SpaceOnSpurgeon in Santa Ana, Orange County.
